A fun treat… but are they actually good?

Welcome back to another Paw-Review from Our Paw-ventures, where we test dog treats so you don’t have to stand in the pet aisle Googling ingredients for 20 minutes (we’ve all been there 😅).

This time, we’re checking out Beggin' Blocks dog treats by Purina

and yes… they’re giving major Minecraft vibes with those little cube shapes.

So let’s dig in 🐶👇

🧱 First Impressions 🧱

Not gonna lie ... these are cute.

The block shape is clearly inspired by Minecraft, which makes them:

✨ Fun for photos

✨ Unique compared to typical treats

✨ A conversation starter for dog content

They’re soft, stackable, and easy to grab, which already makes them feel like a great training treat option.

But of course… we don’t judge by looks alone around here.

🛒 What the Brand Says 🛒

The bag highlights:

  • Made with real bacon

  • Soft, chewy texture

  • “Now you can build with real bacon” (okay… kinda adorable marketing 😂)

Like many treats from Purina, these are designed to be:

• Highly palatable (aka dogs go crazy for them)

• Easy to break apart

• Great for rewarding behavior

🔍 Ingredient Reality Check 🔍

Here’s where we do our classic flip-the-bag-over moment 👀

Treats like these are typically made to taste amazing first, not necessarily to be the cleanest option.

That usually means:

  • Meat flavors (like bacon) are included

  • There may be added flavoring ingredients

  • More processed than limited-ingredient treats

👉 Translation in dog-mom terms:

These are more of a “fun treat” than a “clean nutrition treat.”

And that’s okay, as long as we know that going in.

💰 Price Check 💰

Let’s talk budget… because treat costs add up fast 👀

Beggin’ Blocks are actually pretty affordable compared to a lot of training treats, especially if you’re using them daily.

✨ Budget-friendly

✨ Easy to find in most stores

✨ Good value for frequent training sessions

👉 Dog-mom translation:You won’t feel guilty reaching for these a lot during training.

That said… because they fall more into the “fun treat” category, we still wouldn’t rely on them as your only go-to.

But for the price?

They’re a solid option to keep in your treat rotation 🐶💛

🐶 Texture & Training Use 🐶

This is where these treats actually shine ✨

✔ Soft and chewy

✔ Easy to break into smaller pieces

✔ Perfect for quick rewards

If you’re working on:

  • Sit

  • Stay

  • Recall

  • Trick training

These are honestly super convenient.

And because they’re small cubes, you can control portions better than with larger treats.

🐾 Our Pup’s Taste Test 🐾

Let’s be real… this is the part that matters most 😂

The second the bag opened? Immediate interest.

Strong smell (in dog terms = AMAZING)

Quick excitement

Zero hesitation eating them

Tail wag report: extremely enthusiastic.

(Lucy ate it so fast, I couldn't even snap a picture 😂)

Even Pumpkin was interested

⭐ Our Paw-ventures Honest Rating ⭐

We always rate based on real-life use, not perfection.

Here’s how Beggin’ Blocks scored for our Pack:

⭐ Ingredient quality: 6/10

⭐ Affordability: 8/10

⭐ Training usefulness: 9/10

⭐ Dog excitement level: 10/10

Overall: 7.5/10

👍 When These Treats Are a Good Choice 👍

These are great if you want:

🐾 A high-value training treat

🐾 Something your dog gets excited about

🐾 Fun, themed treats (especially for content!)

🐾 An affordable option for frequent rewards

⚠️ When to Be Mindful ⚠️

You may want to limit or avoid these if your dog:

• Has a sensitive stomach

• Needs a super clean or limited-ingredient diet

• Has issues with processed treats

These are best used as an occasional or training treat, not an everyday unlimited snack.

💛 Final Thoughts From Our Pack 💛

Not every treat needs to be perfect.

Some treats are for:

✨ Training

✨ Fun moments

✨ Getting that perfect content shot

And honestly? These fit that category really well.

They’re fun, convenient, and your dog will probably love them, and sometimes that’s exactly what you need.

Around here, we just focus on balance. We have agreed these will fall in the occasional treat time category.
